Problems with Fees and Charges (688 reviews)
What they do is legal...but it is deceptive...
“ Ambit requires 1 year contracts, at least they did for residents of my community. I pay my bills online, but Ambit's website is down regularly after 10pm or so....maybe earlier, but that is when I finish my day and sit down and work on bills and stuff. This led to late payments, waiting for the next time the site was up. So I set up auto pay, but then my bill goes up. And then a payment fails, but I am not notified until my service is cut. Sometimes I work from home, so this is not acceptable. I am planning to move, but now that they have required a deposit, and for me to re-start a 1 year contact because of the shut off, I will lose the deposit when I move. All of this is legal. You can get bills and notices mailed, but they won't get to you in time, so paying online is still better. But keep an eye on the rate and rate changes and don't set up autopay. Better yet...don't waste your time and money on this outfit. Look at their reviews. They are profitable because of with held deposits, fees, and energy rates that change or are to their best interest, not yours. ”

.14 c and .17c month to month trap
“ I have been with them since 2007. When in a contract there are not many issues. I have 2 accounts with them on auto debit. One time they debited one account, but not the other and sent me disconnection notice and fees demand. Notice, both accounts use the same CC. Took the fees off, but not off my record. Hmm. I have been off the contract for who knows how long. My month to month rate right now is 14 and 17 cents. Quite a high rate compare with 8 cents you can find somewhere else. I called several months ago and they offered like 12 cents which is way higher than others. My son got a much cheaper promotional rate at his apartment as a new customer. I guess they don't care about loyal customers! Very dissapointing. On the other hand I like they offer auto debit by CC and more organized than some other outfits around. I lost a lot of money being month to month for a couple of years and ready to move my business somewhere else. ”

I Was Misinformed/Lied To by Just Energy Door to Door Salesman
“ Just Energy Energy Adviser (saleman) comes to my door, and long story short, asks to see my Electric bill from old provider and tells me, "See this 4.1 cents per KWH, this is what your paying just for electricity. Now look down here. See this 10.6 cents per KWH? This is what you're actually paying for electricity after the delivery fees and all other fees and charges, and taxes are added in. 10.6 cents is what you're actually paying for electricity in total. With Just Energy that amount is 9.5 cents."This was the lie (either intentional or not). 9.5 cents is what I paid for electricity and delivery bundled together BUT on one of my bills the overall charge for electricity was 13.5 cents per KWH.The sales guy was either not trained correctly and didn't know what he was talking about or he straight up lied to me. In either case I feel I was scammed.I quit Just Energy after 3 months and when I got my last bill they add $150 to it for reimbursement of the $150 they gave me in Billing Credit to compensate me for the $150 Early Cancellation fee my last provider had charged me.When I called and explained the story above and asked that they waive that reimbursement repayment, I was told that I agreed to the contract on the phone (J E guy called in the the order and then put me on the phone to agree to the terms). Being that the J E guy was comparing my old total charge of 10.6 cents to their 9.5 cents I obviously assumed that that 9.5 cents per KWH was what I was going to pay in total and agreed to the terms on the phone. And when they read you the terms it's like one of those overly wordy agreement statements you're suppose to read (but nobody ever does) before clicking the box agreeing to the terms of whatever it is your signing for.I FEEL LIKE I WAS TOTALLY SCAMMED ”

Excessive fees that were wrongfully assessed but they insist they can't be removed and apologized!
“ I am sick of Stream popping in extra fees on my bill then later charging me for them and apologizing because now there is no way to remove them, they refuse to allow me to speak to retention. Eric, a Customer Service Agent Supv. said he was sorry 3X about the charge and stated he can't credit my acct for the $25 NCF fee although there was no NSF payment made. He also said he could not transfer me to retention, wow! ”

Worst Customer Service I've Experienced!
“ First as someone said: They are a typical Energy Co. UNTIL you have a problem: I've been using Stream Energy since 2008 without issues because I've never had a problem. On 11/22/16 I requested to move my service from one address to another. I called back in on the same day to correct the address and was assured by the representative Jose that he would update and "not to worry". Well it turned out I had plenty to worry about! On 12/23 I got a bill for my new apartment and an apartment that I never lived in and that bill was twice the amount of the apartment I actually live in. Once discovered I called into Stream Energy and encountered the Rudest, Non Listening, Most Aggressive , representatives supervisors and managers Diego, Evelyn, Meagan, that no paying customer should encounter. Not only did they tell me that I've lived and have been paying for a unit that I've never lived at for one year, they refused to take an incident report and have it investigated to remove the charges as it was in my opinion "a company error," I have since then contacted the PUC, BBB and Attorney General for TX and will write review after review about how HORRIBLE their behavior, willingness or ability to provide quality customer service to the public has been. What I have learned is NOT to expect much from these type of companies and you won't be disappointed! They are POOR Listeners and Problem Solvers and seek only to throw the blame on the consumer to avoid doing their job. IF I COULD GIVE YOU A ZERO, KNOW I WOULD HAVE ”
