Just Energy is part of a group of companies that offer natural gas in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, New York, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and California, and electricity in Ontario, Alberta, New York, Massachusetts and Texas.
Just Energy has also expressed plans for launching retail service in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, D.C., Rhode Island, Georgia and Delaware.

“ Purchased a home on March 4, 2022, went with Just Energy, as the previous homeowner had them. On March 7, and April 18th, electric was cut off. Just Energy does NOT DEACTIVATE the last homeowners that were in this house. They keep calling and turning our electric off!!! Each time this happens we lose work time, staying home, taking approximately 6 hours with them to get them to turn it back on!!! Then they don't take the blame for this happening, stating it isn't their fault! WHAT!!! No protection to your customers??!! This is an incurring issue, we would like to leave this company without early deactivation fees so we can be protected with an electric company that will use pass-codes, etc...to authenticate who we are on protecting our account. ”

“ Of course they got me at sams club with all these gift card offers if you sign up. I asked if my bill was going to change and they said no so I signed up. My bill was more than tripled and I never got any gift cards. Do not sign up. They will screw you over and take all your money. ”

I signed up in Sams Club. The girl looked at my bill and said I would save money because they offered a flat fixed rate of 54.99 just as a special deal for Sams Club members. I thought it was too good to be true so I asked if the flat rate had a cap to which she replied no it doesnt! Then she carefully scrolled to where I needed to sign. This is my fault because I should have stood there in Sams Club with my cart full of groceries and read all of the contract. I think they are counting on people not wanting to do that. Turns out the flat rate is only for the first 900 kw. After that it is billed at 5.99 per kw. This is in no way a savings and would actually cost me more. But she stood right there and lied. When I actually got home and read the contract I called the company and canceled.
Just Energy still has kids in the local Sams club preying on unsuspecting, trusting people. Dont buy your energy supplier at the grocery store! ”
“ I just received my first electric bill with Just Energy. It was 3 times more expensive than the rate from West Penn Power. I called, they offered to lower my rate, but with the lower rate, it was still 2 times the West Penn Power rate. I'll take my chances with the market fluctuation. Not happy with this service. Won't ever use Just Energy again. Was led to be believe my rate would be less not more. Don't be suck into their sales pitch. So sorry I listened and I know better than this ”
“ Signed up to try new company for natural gas. With variable rates they would cap at .79 cents per ccf. Dte was charging .29 cents per ccf and then a charge for distribution and recovery added to it for a total of 1.03 total cost. Just energy immediately charged me their .79 cent cap plus I was still charged distribution and recovery by DTE making my per ccf cost 1.38 plus another. 10 cent charge on top of there max cap price. I cancelled my account with them and they continued to charge me the agreed upon cap price of .79 plus a .10 that I don't r recall being discussed for the next month. My has bill would have been 226.47 with DTE and is instead 311.18 just energy. They are bullshit and will cheat you anyway they can buyer BEWARE!!!! They are Not what they say... read fine print and remember if it sounds to good to be true it isn't real. ”
“ I signed up for the free nights and weekends because my son grandson and daughter-in-law moved in with me and I needed a cheaper energy plan so I thought I was getting a good deal with a free nights and weekends I didn't. my build jumped higher and they're not here now and my bill is still high ”

Just energy has been an absolute nightmare to use! The customer service is beyond a joke and unhelpful. I have yet to be able to make a payment in any way beyond calling customer service and being charged more money to pay my bill through them because I can't pay any other way. The customer service don't listen to your issues. They don't try to trouble shoot.
The prices of the service are insane! What you think you'll pay vs what you actually end up paying are going to be very two different amounts. ”

I have requested to hear or a copy of the phone conversation that they are basing their decision on. They will not provide it. Make sure to put your request in writing or they will bill you for service not received. ”

“ I activated an account and switched to Just Energy on November 18th. Come to find out a month later, they never activated my account! They also autosigned me up for some BS Terrapass carbon offset scam and have been billing me for that! I have been stuck at variable rate(15cents/kwh) for a month because Just Energy is incompetent. Please pick another provider. ”
