Avoid - they will increase the price after one month

  I switched to American Power & Gas because because they had a low variable rate and no cancellation fee. When I signed up I asked if the rate would stay around the current level and was told that it would - that the rate I got was not a teaser rate. However, I only got the low rate for one month. The second month the rate was increased by 70% and the third month was almost double the first month. I switched from AP & G after receiving my second month bill, but I had to pay for part of the third month while the switch was being processed.

  I don't really have an experience. Nobody's ever reached out. Nobody's ever called. I was supposed to get a discount credit. Never got that.So i'm switching companies, but don't forget when you switch.Whatever you have saved up doesn't go with you.So it's better to switch and win or once everything's used up

Double rate without communication

  I had a very disappointing experience with American Power & Gas. Without any clear communication or advance notice, they doubled my rate. As a result, my monthly bill jumped from $440 to nearly $900. That kind of increase is unacceptable, especially without transparent notification or explanation. Customers deserve clear, proactive communication about major rate changes so they can make informed decisions. This experience felt unfair and financially harmful.

A variable rate does not excuse a lack of transparency. Customers deserve timely communication about major pricing changes so they can make informed decisions. This experience felt financially harmful and completely avoidable with proper notice. I would strongly encourage others to monitor their rates closely and proceed with caution.

I also called to complain and I got an AI agent answering my questions. That tells you how much this company cares about its client.

  Called customer service to discuss why my supply rate almost doubled and the woman told me she would connect me to the right department disconnected from me on a call. Clearly on my bill states call this number for questions about my charges and she just didnt want to deal with me. I never signed up for a variable rate and how can you justify going from a .0969 rate in December to .1209 in January and now .2247 for February. Highway robbery!!! Ridiculous!!!!! I had no warning whatsoever there was to be any increases! I have already switched suppliers!

  Careful of these guys! They lure you in with a great var. price promising consistent prices if the commodity price remains the same. They state a ridiculous retention rate (95%+) of new customers due to stable pricing. My pricing went from 0.087 cent per KW to .297047 cent per KW....almost tripling my energy costs!

  Absoute scam. Offered savings to current rate. By three months in the rate is 3x or more than the default service rate. And cancelling is near impossible and takes a couple months. DO NOT LET THEM SCAM YOU! They bank on you not looking at the rates on your bill to massively overcharge you.

Call center empolyee doesn't take no for an answer

  I am used to getting calls from electric providers wanting me to switch, most are willing to end the call when I say no once or twice.
Today I received a call from American Power and Gas and after saying I wasn't interested 3 times to no avail I hung up on him. You would think it would be done but no he called back not one more time but twice and I hung up on him twice more. At this point they could offer me electric service for one penny per kilowat and I wouldn't be interested. This is no way to attract customers.

  This company is absolutely horrible. After an introductory rate they where charging more than double per KW from providers.
They also changed my account without my knowledge or consent but with the consent if some else who lived in my household and whose name was not on the bill! I will be contacting the better business bourogh immediately.

Bizarre Experience The "2-year fixed, month to month" deal from AEP!

  On January 27, 2023, I received an unsolicited marketing call from American Power & Gas (AEP) offering me an electric rate of 9.194 cents per kw. in answer to my question, I was told that the rate was fixed for 2 years. For my records, I documented the date, the rate and the fact it was 2 -year fixed. on the electric bill. I though it was a good deal and I told the customer service rep to sign me up. and documented the details of the agreement on the January Peco bill. On January 10, 2024, my wife was reviewing the utility expenses for the year to find out rhat AEP has raised the price from 9.17 cents in January to 23.271 cents per KW in December and the additional charges over the year were $782.35!!! I thought it was a mistake, so I called customer service and after explaining the situation, the AEP customer Service Rep said: "Yes. the rate is 2-year fixed, month to month". My immediate response was: "What does that mean???? !!!!!"
I was promised to receive a payment of $100 and the issue was elevated to the manager I did not receive the $100 and I called 3 times since 1/10 and as yet no response!!!
I am totally disappointed with AEP unethical marketing and I do not know how they are still in business. Was it a zealous rep who wanted to make their quota or a mistake? Anyway, I will not deal with AEP anymore and next time I will ask the customer rep calling to send me an agreement in writing before signing up. Once bitten, twice shy!
